Dan was a charter member of Four Points Retriever Club and was involved with the North American Hunting Retriever Association (NAHRA) since 1999. He had the pleasure of owning and handling two 1000 Point dogs in NAHRA, GMHRCHII GMPR HRCH UH Belle MH and GMHRCHIII HR UH Holzingers Chai Latte MH, along with owning and handling several other GMHR’s. Belle was elected into the American Pointing Lab Association’s (APLA) Hall of Fame recognizing her accomplishment of being the only dog in history to earn the highest titles in each retriever venue in North America. He handled more than 25 dogs at the master level while earning over 200 qualifications ribbons with them. Dan had considerable experience in hunt tournaments as well, competing in several tournament venues over more than a decade. He won the U.S. Open Pheasant Championship along with many state championships throughout the Midwest.

When he was not competing, you’d probably find Dan hunting, training, judging or helping others learn the joy and finer points of one of those activities.

We lost Dan in 2020 but he lives on in our hearts and memories.
